Sail on the Tejo

on the Tejo, Lisbon’s river

Fernando Pessoa, one of the most significant figures of Portuguese Literature wrote: “For the traveller who comes in from the sea, Lisbon, even from afar, rises like a fair vision in a dream, clear-cut against a bright blue sky which the sun gladdens with its gold.,”
We know that you are most probably a traveler coming into Lisbon by air but we would still wish you to discover and experience the fabulous views from Lisbon’s river, The Tejo.
Raise the sail and set course towards the wild open sea and the fishing villages of Cascais and Estoril. Or, if the weather permits, sail on the river Tejo and see Lisbon from a unique point of view. On your journey, you might encounter cruise ships and tankers, small fishing boats searching for clams, or even a family of bottlenose dolphins living in the river.
What we promise you is that you will learn how to sail. Feel the wind in your hair, the water splashing in your face and experience the delightful, invigorating feeling of running on the water.
This four hour activity consists of one hour preparation and boarding, followed by three hours of sailing. During this sea experience, you will learn the basics of sailing, how to sail at different angles to the wind, handling of the boat, turning and stopping and leaving and returning to the dock. You will take away valuable experience and skills of how to navigate both in the open sea and in the river mouth.

Oeiras Marina – (approximately 7 km west of Lisbon and 7 km east of Cascais/Estoril).
